Below is the DCAMM flyer from the fence at the Medfield State Hospital Overlook, retrieved during last evening’s walk. Currently there is a huge hole dug out at the site of the VOC (perc I think) plume (the formerly laundry building site) between the mural and the Overlook, and a huge pile of those soils in the adjoining field. This is the website DCAMM lists for more information.

Email from Jean Letai –
Subject: Police Escort for Medfield Olympian tomorrow
Dear Gus, Pete, and Eileen –
Just reaching out to let you know that my daughter Julie Letai, who represented Medfield while competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, will be returning to town tomorrow (Wednesday, April 20). She will be with one of her Olympic short-track speedskating teammates (Kristen Santos from CT) as part of US Speedskating’s Tour of Olympians.
The Medfield police plan to surprise them with an escort around 12 noon — as they drive from 109 near Millis, left on North St, and right on Pine St. I know it’s tricky to plan the precise timing, but we would be happy for any Medfielders to wave at them anywhere along the way!
They will also be at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley from 6-8pm tomorrow, meeting and greeting the public on ice from 6-7 and off the ice from 7-8.
All best,
Jean Letai

Dear Kristine,
Today, I was proud to join Speaker Ron Mariano and Chairman Aaron Michlewitz to release the House Ways and Means Committee budget recommendations. I just wanted to share with you the preliminary local aid numbers for the town of Medfield:
Unrestricted Local Aid: $1,636,170
Increase of $43,015 (2.7%) over FY22
Chapter 70 Funding: $6,507,474
Increase of $145,740 (2.3%) over FY22
The next step in the process is to debate the budget before the entire House of Representatives. We plan to do this the week of April 25. It is during this time I will advocate for Medfield-specific priorities. I will follow up after the House budget process is finalized with the final numbers for FY23 as well as next steps.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,

Selectman Office Hours this Friday
I hold regular monthly office hours at The Center on the first Friday of every month from 9:00 to 10:00 AM , this month occurring on the second Friday due to the FOSI yard sale.
Residents are welcome to stop by to talk in person about any town matters.
Residents can also have coffee and see the Council on Aging in action (a vibrant organization with lots going on).
Come tomorrow to talk to your selectman at 9 AM and stay to take the Tai Chi class at 10 AM.
The BOS and the School Committee would like to hear the community’s future-focused thoughts about how to create a facility that meets the educational needs of our town and achieves a level of consensus that reasonably ensures passage at a future Town Meeting and ballot vote.
Feedback will be taken both in person as well as through Zoom. There will be an open comments document available on both the Town and School websites for additional thoughts after the feedback session. The meeting agenda for the joint session may be found here.
Tonight April 6, the Medfield Hospital Development Committee will hold a feedback session on the potential sale & development plans of the site to Trinity Financial. The Dale Street project and the disposition of the Former Medfield State Hospital land are long-standing issues within the town. If you would like to attend that session in person or via zoom, more information may be found on their Town of Medfield website.
We sincerely thank you for your continued support of our students and our town,
The Medfield School Committee
Jessica Reilly, Chair
Leo Brehm, Vice Chair
Timothy Knight, Recording Secretary
Michelle Kirkby, Member at Large
Anna Mae O’Shea Brooke, Member at Large

I started this blog to share the interesting and useful information that I saw while doing my job as a Medfield select board member. I thought that my fellow Medfield residents would also find that information interesting and useful as well. This blog is my effort to assist in creating a system to push the information out from the Town House to residents. Let me know if you have any thoughts on how it can be done better.
