Rolling Rally on 5/31 for MHS Grads

CLASS OF 2020 SENIOR CELEBRATION DAY Rolling Rally to honor Medfield H.S. Class of 2020! Please help honor the Medfield H.S. Seniors on what would have been their originally scheduled graduation day, May 31st. We are bringing the Medfield community together in a safe way to celebrate the Class of 2020. A Rolling Rally of cars will pass through town (see route on page 2) on Sunday, May 31st beginning at 1PM. Please pardon any road closures that may impact your travel during this time. If you would like to watch the Rally roll by, please park at a location near the route and view from your car. The safety of our community is a priority for this event and social distancing guidelines should be adhered to by all. To honor members of the Class of 2020 who may live in your neighborhood, we welcome you to decorate your house with Warrior pride. We need signs of inspiration, congratulations, good luck - any positive message. Tie these balloons (with short string so they’ll prop up!) to your mail box. Make noise Have your children bang some pans together, use noise makers, honk your horns, cheer with your loudest voice, pipe music. Be spectators Step outside your house, hang out your window, sit in your car, stand in your driveway, wave to our MHS Seniors as they pass. What else? Blow bubbles or use your bubble machine, write chalk messages, use your megaphone, blow up some balloons...anything that helps make this rolling rally event festive is welcome! Hi everyone! We are trying to organize a community wide event to show our support for all doctors, nurses, and medical professionals working to help and heal during this difficult time.

 

TONIGHT, at 7 PM, “Unite with Light” by placing a battery-powered lantern, luminary, flashlight, or other light outside your home or in your window as a show of support for our hometown heroes.

An appreciation of our town employees

An appreciation for a job well done

I have been thinking this morning about the Town of Medfield employees who provide we residents with the services that allow our lives to continue with as much semblance of normalcy as possible at all times, but most especially in these truly unsettling circumstances we are currently experiencing. Our water goes on, public safety continues to serve us, the Transfer Station even added Sunday openings, and all the town government systems continue to function, if behind a digital curtain, all so that we residents can continue our lives.

The town employees are providing essential services, so while they likely share the same unease that envelopes us all, they continue to work their jobs.  I wanted to publicly share with the Town of Medfield employees my sincere appreciation for their efforts  and to thank them.

I am extremely appreciative of what all the town employees are doing now, working under difficult circumstances – I want to let them all know just how much this one resident, one who tries hard to observe closely the functioning of the town government so as to understand it as well as possible, truly appreciates what our team of town employees are accomplishing for we residents.

St. Edward Church and UCC Medfield are collaborating on this important initiative, along with the Medfield Coalition for Suicide Prevention.

Dear Middle and High School Parents,

In collaboration with the Medfield Coalition for Suicide Prevention (MedfieldCSP), the faith based community in Medfield is excited to present new programming for teen peer to peer training for mental and emotional well-being and awareness.

Last June, many high schoolers participated in a focus group facilitated by Dr. Nadja Reilly, from William James College. The intent was to listen to these students to unveil some pressing issues the students may be experiencing and their root causes. Our students’ input was profound and extremely insightful. Based on the feedback from student and parent focus groups, we have started to develop programming and we would love to share this information with you.

We invite parents to learn about this new peer to peer training initiative and hear ways parents/guardians can support emotional resilience in our youth. Dr. Reilly will be presenting on Monday, September 23 at 7:30pm – 8:30pm at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield.

St. Edward Church and UCC Medfield are collaborating on this important initiative, along with the Medfield Coalition for Suicide Prevention. Please note that while the two faith communities are organizing this initiative, events are open to all parents within the Medfield community.

Maeve Devlin is the 2019 MFi Youth Volunteer of the Year

MFi Salutes Maeve Devlin – Youth Volunteer of the Year!

Medfield Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce this year’s Youth Volunteer of the Year – Maeve Devlin.  Through the nomination provided by her Teacher, Gail Duffy, it is clear that Maeve exemplifies the qualities MFi looks for:  a dedicated volunteer who is driven to provide a meaningful impact in the town of Medfield.

Ms. Duffy describes Maeve this way: “One of the most striking aspects of Maeve Devlin is the fact that she really doesn’t see the enormity of what she’s done.”  In her work with the Best Buddies program at Medfield High, Maeve has “fostered a transformative experience” for all students, both those with cognitive delays, as well as those without.  In her 2 years working with this program, Maeve has led by “example, enthusiasm, warmth and tenacity.”  She has succeeding in transforming this into a club where “all students look forward to meeting as friends.”

Maeve has been a force for good in her school, leading other classmates, both those in her class, as well as upper classmen, to become part of her revolution.  By her Sophomore year, Maeve was on the Leadership Board of the Best Buddies, and began organizing some fantastic initiatives such as a pre-Trick-or-Treating party for all of the participants.  Maeve has also organized her friends to participate in the Friendship Walk, catapulting her Chapter into the top 15 of fundraisers.

In her spare time, when not giving her heart to this program, Maeve is the Captain of the Girls Varsity Basketball team, serves as her class’ Vice President, works as a waitress, and does it all with an optimistic smile.

Although Maeve’s accomplishments are amazing in of themselves, what is truly spectacular is that she has developed true, authentic and long-lasting friendship with the participants in the Best Buddies program.

Maeve had tough competition this year, and we would like to take a moment to thank the other Youth Volunteer of the Year nominees.  Hannah Rogan, Morgan Caro and Sam Joline we sincerely thank you for your dedication and volunteer spirit focused on improving our town!

Angel Run 2018 – Register Now

Greetings Angel Run Friends,

Join us for the 13th running (or walking) of the Angel Run on Sunday, December 2 at 12:30pm!

Registration for the MFi Angel Run is officially open. Registration is available online for $25.00 per person at MedfieldFoundation.org/angel-run and runs through October 28. Register by this date to receive the always popular commemorative Angel Run shirt. After October 28 you can still register online, however the price goes up to $30.00 per person and you will not receive a shirt.

Once again this year we will be offering bib tag timing to provide you the most accurate time possible and a special separate starting corral for competitive runners. You decide if you should belong to that group. Be sure to note this on your registration.

We’ve also got great news to share as well. With the completion of the Philips Street bridge, the Angel Run will be returning to our official 5K route. A map of the route is available when you register or on our website.

New this year – The Sleigh Division!

This year runners pushing strollers can register for the Sleigh Division. Just like Santa speeds through the night with his sleigh, we know that some of our runners speed through the streets of Medfield with their Sleighs (strollers)! Awards will be given for the top male and female runners pushing a sleigh and also for the best decorated sleigh.
