Take the small business survey

From our Town Planner, Sarah Raposa –

ATTENTION: Medfield Microenterprises The Town of Medfield has the opportunity to pursue funding in order to create a local microenterprise grant program. Microenterprises are businesses with 5 or fewer employees, one of which is the owner. In order to determine the amount of the prospective funding request and how the program will operate if funded, we need to know more about microenterprises in Medfield. Please take this short survey: https://forms.gle/21XyGaYof2VAoKym9

The Medfield Board of Selectmen is seeking residents who are interested in serving on the Medfield State Hospital Development Committee (MSHDC). The MSHDC is responsible for developing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Request for Proposals process (RFP) in support of the redevelopment of the Medfield State Hospital site and the MSH District zoning article approved at Medfield’s November 2019 Special Town Meeting; initiating a disposition article for an upcoming town meeting that authorizes the town to release the property for redevelopment; and identifying the staffing and legal counsel resources necessary to support the redevelopment effort. An appreciation of our town employees

town seal

An appreciation for a job well done

I have been thinking this morning about the Town of Medfield employees who provide we residents with the services that allow our lives to continue with as much semblance of normalcy as possible at all times, but most especially in these truly unsettling circumstances we are currently experiencing. Our water goes on, public safety continues to serve us, the Transfer Station even added Sunday openings, and all the town government systems continue to function, if behind a digital curtain, all so that we residents can continue our lives.

The town employees are providing essential services, so while they likely share the same unease that envelopes us all, they continue to work their jobs.  I wanted to publicly share with the Town of Medfield employees my sincere appreciation for their efforts  and to thank them.

I am extremely appreciative of what all the town employees are doing now, working under difficult circumstances – I want to let them all know just how much this one resident, one who tries hard to observe closely the functioning of the town government so as to understand it as well as possible, truly appreciates what our team of town employees are accomplishing for we residents.

TWMPC drink cozy

twmpc cozy

Yesterday, at day’s end, I swung by the Town House to sign documents, and discovered the new Town Wide Master Planning Committee drink cozy.

My cozy can be seen in my Medfield office today, in front of the 12/30/1999 copy of the Medfield Press that was recently given to me by the Deval family, after they retrieved it from a time capsule that they had put away twenty years ago, because it contained a quote from that year’s losing select board candidate Pete Peterson, who said:  “I’ve always had the feeling we should in some way, give back to the community.  We should try to make the place we live a better place.”

Email today from the Townwide Master Planning  Committee (copy at the end below) sharing results of its forum and survey, and I inserted examples of the Committee’s use and promotion of “#medfieldspecialplaces” (including one person’s attempt at doing a selfie) – extra points to anyone knowing whose dog it is, or where the train engine is located.

#medfieldspecialplaces – Straw Hat Park is a great addition to the vibrancy of our downtown – who knew that such a small place could make such a big impact!
