MFi Legacy Fund Grantees Reported Back

From Leanne LaBelle of the Medfield Foundation –

Celebration of MFi Legacy Fund Grants

The 2024 Grant Recipients of the Medfield Foundation’s Legacy Fund celebrated with midyear reports at the Zullo Gallery on Thursday night, December 5th. 2024 Legacy Fund Grants were awarded to the Peak House Heritage Center for a Traveling Trunk exhibit, Medfield TV for Podcast Equipment and the Dwight Derby House for their East Parlor Project, honoring one of its extraordinary residents, Mary Derby.

Director of the Gallery, Bill Pope, welcomed everyone to the Zullo, which received a Legacy Fund Grant itself in 2023 for the creation of an innovative Augmented Reality Exhibit. According to Pope, the exhibit is still hosted on the internet and can be seen around town with the app, Hoverlay.

This year’s Legacy Grants have already made a big difference. The excitement was gushing from Wheelock’s 3rd grade teachers about their plans for the Traveling Trunk as a multidiscipline time capsule in their 3rd grade curriculum.

And the energy for the Dwight Derby House has been transformed. Their East Parlor Project will honor Mary Derby, a single mother who ran a bonnet manufacturing business from her home while raising a son destined for greatness.

To paraphrase Rob Babson of the Peak House Heritage Center, he said, “Thanks to the grants from the MFi Legacy Fund, impressive talent has been brought to Medfield and ‘cross pollinated,’ amplifying and raising the quality of our offerings and excitement for our town.”

MFi Legacy Fund grant requests due by 3/25

MEDFIELD FOUNDATION LEGACY FUND NOW ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS

The Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund has announced that applications are now being accepted for its 2024 Community Impact Grants. Up to $40,000 in grants will be awarded, and any Medfield-based nonprofit or Town department is eligible. Applicants are welcome to submit a grant request online at https://www.medfieldfoundation.org/ by March 25, 2024.

The Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund Community Board will review all submissions and select the finalists who will be invited to PITCH IT!, a Shark Tank-type event to be held in person in April, 2024. At PITCH IT!, applicants present their proposal, goals, and financial needs and directly engage with the Community Board on their projects. The Community Board will make its final selection of grant recipients for the 2024 funding round in May, 2024.

This year marks the fourth round of Legacy Fund Community Impact grants. To date over $78,000 has been awarded to eleven organizations, including the Cultural Alliance of Medfield, the Friends of the MHS Theatre Society, the Friends of the Medfield Rail Trail, Medfield Cares About Prevention, Medfield Outreach, The Peak House Heritage Center, Sustainable Medfield, Hinkley Helpers, Medfield TV, Kingsbury Pond Gristmill Committee, and Zullo Gallery Center for Arts.

Grantees have used their awards to further important projects in Medfield and in some cases to leverage significant additional resources such as matching grants or federal or state funding. This year’s applicants should be prepared to illustrate a strong and compelling current need for funds, and possibly present how those funds may generate additional investments in the Medfield community as well.

Act fast to take advantage of this spectacular opportunity!

MFi Camp Fund needs your help

Medfield Foundation 2024 Summer Camp Fund Appeal

It’s time to think about summer!  We need your help to send a kid to camp.

Medfield Foundation (MFi) relies on generosity of our Medfield residents to help make our local summer camps accessible to all our Medfield families.

Summer camp is a happy tradition for many children throughout Medfield. Perhaps you have many happy memories from your time as a camper. Summer camp provides us with cherished experiences where learning takes place out of the classroom and often in the great outdoors. Summer camp provides us with unexpected friendships born out of shared experiences that often last a lifetime.

Over the past six years, together we have raised over $45,000 and helped over 40 local families in need send their children to camp. These children were able to experience the special magic of our local summer camps including swimming at Hinkley Pond. More importantly, these children were given the opportunity to participate in new experiences and new friendships outside of the classroom.

This is your chance to donate to our 2024 Summer Camp Fund and make a tangible difference in a child’s life. Please give generously. 100% of your donation will go towards sending a kid to camp this summer.

It’s easy to make your tax-deductible donation:

Send your check to the Medfield Foundation, PO Box 745, Medfield MA 02052. Please make your check out to Medfield Foundation, Inc and then please write “CAMP” in the memo line

Or use this link to donate:  http://medfieldfoundation.org/donate/

Want more information? Please visit us at www.medfieldfoundation.org or contact us at info@medfieldfoundation.org.

We hope you will consider donating to the MFi Camp Fund to make summer camp accessible to all.  And if you are need of financial assistance for your children to attend a Medfield based summer camp, please contact Medfield Outreach by calling 508-359-7121 x3421 or x3422 or via email at this address: medfieldoutreach@medfield.net

Hinkley Helpers Reveals Fun, Inclusive Playground Design to be Built

$10,000 left to fundraise, final deadline to buy a brick is August 31st

Medfield, MA, July 31, 2023 — Zipline! Friendship swings! Ninja Wall! Oh my! Nearly a year since launching its fundraising campaign, Hinkley Helpers, an initiative of the Medfield Foundation Inc., has revealed the final playground design to become a town destination at Stephen Hinkley Memorial Park. After thoughtful deliberation between the Medfield Parks and Recreation Commission and Hinkley Helpers, the two committees selected local New England playground expert Childscapes to build a fun, inclusive playscape for generations of children, parents and caretakers to enjoy. To add the zipline, Hinkley Helpers needs to raise $10,000 and will extend its buy-a-brick campaign to a final deadline of August 31, 2023.

The playground design was chosen for the diversity of play offered for all ages and abilities and considerably updates the nearly thirty-year-old playground currently at Hinkley Park. The new playground will allow for progressive play, aging up equipment to accommodate and challenge children of all ages and abilities, which was significantly requested by the Hinkley Helpers’ initial community survey. With these modern components, accessible poured-in-place ground cover, and additional benches and tables, every child and caregiver will have the opportunity to enjoy a new town destination.

“Buy a Brick” Deadline is August 31, 2023

To buy a brick, please visit https://tinyurl.com/Hinkley-Helpers, select the $150 (4×8)  or $250 (8×8) option on the “Hinkley Helper Brick Campaign,” and complete the informational form on the same site.

Mail-in forms for the bricks are also available at The Medfield Town House (459 Main Street). Please make a check payable to Medfield Foundation Inc. with a note in Memo: “Hinkley Helpers Brick” and drop it off or mail it to:
