ONE RESPONSE TO “TOWN ELECTION 3/25 – PAPERS DUE 2/4”

  1. Colleen Sullivan

Hi Pete,Unfortunately, what you posted here “If I am interpreting Carol’s red check marks correctly, it looks like the whole School Committee, the whole Medfield Park & Recreation Commission, and all the Library Trustees are up for election.” (regarding Carol’s red check marks) is not correct…. I called Carol and I will be posting the brief descriptions of the following positions (which are the only ones up for election on March 25th. – Town Moderator (1 seat) – Board of Selectmen (1 seat) – Assessors (1 seat) – School Committee (2 seats) – Library Trustee (2 seats) – Planning Board (1 seat) – Park Commissioner (2 seats) – Trust Fund Commissioner (1 seat) Sending this along in case you want to modify what you posted so there is no confusion….. Best,Colleen

Town election 3/25 – papers due 2/4

Town Clerk, Carol Mayer, published the material below today.

If I am interpreting Carol’s red check marks correctly, it looks like the whole School Committee, the whole Medfield Park & Recreation Commission, and all the Library Trustees are up for election.

Given that we try to have staggered terms, I am not sure how that happened, except that when people resign and a seat is filled by an interim election, I know that interim individual has to run in the next election.

Nomination papers available from Town Clerk

The first step in seeking an elected municipal position is gathering the signatures of fifty registered voters on nomination papers that one gets from the Town Clerk.  Those nomination papers then need to be returned to the Town Clerk in a couple of months, so the signatures can be certified.

Election today

No reminder is probably necessary, given the amount of news coverage – and the election frenzy will all be over tonight.

When I voted at 8:45 lots of sign holders, few parking spaces, and I had to stand in line for the first time ever – so great to see so many voting.  350 had voted in my precinct, so probably about 1,400 town wide.

Meghan Glenn elected to School Committee

At the Board of Selectmen meeting last night by the split joint vote of the four then current School Committee members and the three selectmen Meghan Glenn, a former teacher, was elected to fill the open School Committee spot created by the resignation of Tim Bonfatti last month.

When there is an open position on a Town of Medfield board, that position is filled by the joint vote of the two boards.

Dr. Meredith Chamberland, who holds a doctorate, also agreed to be nominated.  The town is fortunate to have two such well credentialed, knowledgeable  candidates willing to serve on the School Committee (both have been active in school matters).  Based on the responses by both Ms. Glenn and Dr. Chamberland to numerous questions last night, our town will be exceedingly well served if both continue their active participation in school matters going forward.

School Committee opening

BoS

There will be an election at the Board of Selectmen meeting tomorrow evening to fill the vacancy on the School Committee created by Tim Bonfatti’s recent resignation.  The candidate will be selected by a majority of the vote by members of both boards.

I assume that anyone interested in serving should send a resume to the School Committee and the Board of Selectmen, and plan to have their name put into contention tomorrow evening at the selectmen meeting.

This is from the BoS agenda:

Appointments
7:05 PM Joint meeting of Board of Selectmen and School Committee to fill School Committee vacancy by special election pursuant to General Laws, Chapter 41, Section 11

Primary election this Tuesday, 9/4

election

Primary election this coming Tuesday, 9/4

Please remember to vote this coming Tuesday in the primary election.

Please vote for Denise Garlick

I ask those of you in Precincts 1 and 2 to join me in voting for Denise Garlick for state representative in the Democratic primary.

As our state representative, Denise has –

  • worked hard and actively supported the town’s interests at the sate level,
  • helped obtain the proper remediation by DCAMM of the former Medfield State Hospital site,
  • helped the town purchase of the former Medfield State Hospital site,
  • been endorsed by Bill Massaro, our town’s closest observer of all things MSH related, Congressman Joe Kennedy, and a long list of others,
  • reported back to residents annually on what she is doing.

You would all be as disappointed as I was, when I listened to the debate between Denise and her challenger, to learn that her challenger knew so little about our town that he thought the Medfield State Hospital was still open and full of DMH patients – he had no understanding about Medfield’s biggest issue.
