About The Medfield Foundation
The Medfield Foundation (MFi) is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation whose mission is to build community by supporting local non-profit initiatives, raising funds for those in need, and distributing grants that positively impact Medfield.   The funds raised from the Angel Run form MFi’s  Community Assistance Fund which is allocated to Medfield residents in need through an application process administered in conjunction with Medfield Outreach.

“There is so much to say about this foundation that words could never express. I have so much gratitude for everyone who is a part of this and consistently helps families such as myself. A few years ago, my lease was up for renewal and the rent increase was more than I could handle. This foundation donated a portion of the rent, which allowed me to situate my bills and funds to be able to help me be prepared for the upcoming months. The amazing souls apart of this program have honestly been a blessing and got my family and I out of multiple ruts. I hope all families in need can continue to receive their help and gratitude. Thank you again for all that you do!” – Recent recipient of Angel Run support.

Scott McDermott calls it quits as Moderator

Letter to the town from long term and extremely high quality moderator, Scott McDermott, sharing with residents his decision to not seek re-election. Thank you Scott McDermott for all that you have done for the Town of Medfield!

October 27, 2023
Special hello to my friends and neighbors.
Why should I have all the fun? After twenty-one years as Medfield’s Town Moderator, I will not be a candidate for re-election in next spring’s town election.
Our community is a special place. Serving as moderator has been the highest honor and privilege of my professional career. And it has been a great, great pleasure.
Being Moderator has been such a wonderful experience because of you. I thank the members of our Medfield community: neighbors, volunteers, professional staff, community leaders, and friends. It has been a blessing to closely engage for 25 years with the individuals and groups who have contributed so much to the exceptional vitality, caring, energy, and forward progress of our community. Community matters. And in Medfield, ‘community’ is our distinctive competency.
I’m not going anywhere – perhaps I’ll even take the opportunity to be more outspoken. I care deeply about elementary education, open space, our downtown, our history and heritage, and the values of community. I continue to care, passionately, about the high standards of our local government. I also continue to be amazed at all the volunteer initiatives and efforts that make Medfield a special place to live, work, and raise families.
So, there it is. Elected annually, this December will be the first time since 2002 that I will not be stopping by the Town Clerk’s office to pick up my nomination papers. It has been a wonderful journey. Soon you will hear more from me as a ‘lame-duck’ Town Moderator. But in the meantime, thank you and enjoy our autumn as we head towards the holiday season.
All the best,
Scott F. McDermott

UCC Pumpkin Patch

I highly recommend to families with young children to make this year the start of their annual visit to the UCC Pumpkin Patch. There is lots for young kids to explore and do, plus great family photo ops. Start your family’s Halloween pumpkin picking tradition.

My family’s pumpkin this year from the UCC Pumpkin Patch. I wonder if it will fall off on the way home.
