From the Medfield Food Cupboard, the MHS Cheerleaders and Football Team –

This year’s Thanksgiving Day “Turkey Bowl” football game will be held at Medfield High School. The Medfield Food Cupboard is teaming up with the Warrior football team and Warrior cheerleaders for a food drive at the field.
The Food Cupboard is encouraging the community to support the Warriors and the town by bringing a non-perishable, unexpired and unopened food donation to the annual Medfield vs. Dover Sherborn Turkey Bowl before half time. The game starts at 10 AM. Items most needed include: tuna, peanut butter, non- grape jelly, canned fruit, canned pasta and rice. (If it’s raining, please don’t bring any food packaged in cardboard.)
The Food Cupboard also noted: if residents are traveling at Thanksgiving or unable to make it to the game, they are always welcome to drop food donations in the bins at Shaw’s, the Medfield Public Library, St. Edward’s Church, the Senior Center, the Pfaff Center and the United Church of Christ.

Superintendent Jeff Marsden’s email this afternoon reported on the Medfield High School turf field status – namely, it opens for use tomorrow, closes 9/14 for up to 2 weeks to get finished, then opens for good, with ribbon cutting 10/7.
Hi All,

I hope all is well.
I wanted to give you a quick update on the turf/track project. The turf portion of the project is nearly finished and our kids will begin using the field tomorrow, Tuesday August 30th. There is a few “punch list” items left to complete, but the field “passed” the necessary assessments for safe use. We will use the field for a couple of weeks and then it will be closed for 10-14 days on September 12th for the respraying of the track and “D” zones. In addition, the viewing area sill needs to be completed and the new scoreboard (donated by Needham Bank) will be installed at the end of September.
We have tentatively planned for a formal “ribbon cutting” ceremony on the evening of October 7th. We felt that it made sense to have the entire project finished before we have a ceremony.
Move info to follow.
I can make myself available to anyone that would like a tour of the field prior to the 7th. Just let me know.
Thanks again for your support of this exciting project.
Best,
Jeff

At the selectmen meeting last night Jeff Marsden, the School Superintendent, reported on the status of the turf field, amongst other things, and as an update today Jeff Marsden shared that the MHS webcam actually shows the work in progress. Just scroll down the page to see the actual image of the field getting built.
I forgot to mention last night that the field project can be seen live on our website at http://www.medfield.net/mhs.html
Thanks,
Jeff

http://www.hnibnews.com/mass-d2-south-boys-tourney-preview-top-seed-medfield-heads-talented-pack/
Play will begin Tuesday with first round action in what may be the most intriguing sectional bracket, Division 2 Boys South. Sixteen teams have qualified
Here is a look at them as they are seeded:
#1 Medfield (14-1-5): The Warriors spent most of the first half of the season ranked #1 in Mass D2 and for good reason. They are a solid squad, certainly capable of reaching the Garden.
“I think that we (as all teams) will feel the pressure of the moment,” said Medfield coach Toby Carlow. “It is how we handle each game. The keys to our success starts from the back end. We have gotten solid goaltending all season and solid defensive play.”
Medfield can also score, led by veteran seniors Matt Treiber (21-21-42) and John McLean (18-17-35). Freshman Brian Abely (9-18-27) has been a welcome addition. Sophomore Ryan Johnson (12 pts) will contribute. The defense will look to senior Nigel Reiff (12 pts), senior Jonathan Seibel (9 pts) and senior Michael Walsh (8 pts) for leadership in front of senior goalie Matt Malvese.
