Eagle Scouts William Henry Whitaker, Joshua L. Lozano, and Hayden Christian Sutherland Gray

This past Saturday afternoon there was a Troop 89 Eagle Scout Court of Honor for new Eagle Scouts William Henry Whitaker, Joshua L. Lozano, and Hayden Christian Sutherland Gray at the UCC. All three are 2022 graduates of Medfield High School and had returned to town for Thanksgiving.

Assistant Town Administrator, Nicholas Milano moves on and up – selected last night by Milton Select Board as their next Town Administrator

Read the Patriot Ledger article about the stiff competition Nick bested to get the job. Medfield has benefited hugely from Nick’s tenure here, and this Select Board members wishes him well in his next work.

The Milton Select Board is pleased to announce its unanimous selection of Nicholas Milano to be the next Milton Town Administrator subject to contract negotiations.

Mr. Milano currently serves as Assistant Town Administrator for the Town of Medfield, MA.  His prior experience includes service as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Boston Municipal Research Bureau; as Executive Aide to the Mayor of Marlboro, MA; as Project Coordinator for the Massachusetts School Building Authority; and as a Legislative Aide in MA.

Mr. Milano earned his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and holds a Master of Urban Affairs Degree from Boston University.  He also earned a Certificate in Local Government Management and Leadership sponsored by the Massachusetts Municipal Association and Suffolk University, he was a John William Ward Fellow while a student at Boston Latin School.

The Roundtable with the Congressman will provide an opportunity for local community leaders and stakeholders to receive an update about the American Rescue Plan and the pending Federal infrastructure legislation packages and how they can benefit Medfield. The Congressman will share a brief overview of his first several months in office and then will open most of the session for Q & A from participants.

The Angel Run is coming!

Last call for shirts!

The Medfield Foundation Angel Run will be held on Sunday, December 5. It’s a 5K / Run / Walk community “fun raiser” and family event. The route is filled with decorations and festive highlights. Bring your friends, the kids, the dog, the stroller and Grandma too. Wear your festive holiday gear and and help raise funds for Medfield families in need. 

Early Bird Registration is $25 and includes a commemorative shirt, but ends soon on November 1.  

Standard Registration is $30 and runs until November 19, but does NOT include a shirt.

Mark Sullivan might have sold you (or your parents) a Red Sox hat in the ’70s. As a Medfield teen, he worked a souvenir cart near Fenway Park.

He’s 62 today and living in Bozeman, Montana. He’s also a bestselling author.

While the Medfield High grad has written a few thrillers — including the “Private” series with James Patterson — his knack for World War II stories launched him to the top of the bestseller lists.

Q. Tell us about growing up in Medfield and your path to writing.

A. The high school was fantastic. My English teacher, Estelle Stahl, was the first person to tell me I could become a professional writer.

Pamela Bates, Matthew Parillo, and Kirsten Poler join MFi board

Medfield Foundation names 3 to its board of directors

The Medfield Foundation has announced that Kirsten Poler, Matthew Parillo and Pamela Bates have been appointed to its Board of Directors. These appointments reflect the growth of MFi and its initiatives and contributions to the town. The MFi Board of Directors governs all Medfield Foundation events and campaigns, administers associated funds and works with local nonprofit groups.

“The work of MFi and our organizations is more important than ever in these times and our Board composition must evolve to support outreach to new residents and families in Medfield. With these changes, MFi has further increased the makeup of our board in terms of gender and career experience,” said Evan Weisenfeld, president of Medfield Foundation.

Poler is a trusts and estates lawyer who practiced at Palmer and Dodge and Wellesley College until relocating to London 20 years ago.  While in London, Kirsten worked to raise money for various nonprofits which included trekking to Mt Everest base camp for Women for Women and running several London Marathons for the NSPCC.

Having moved back recently, Kirsten has worked on behalf of the Annual Fund for Civic Leadership at the Boston Foundation, The Charles River School, and her alma mater, Amherst College. Kirsten is enjoying getting to know all things Medfield and has also joined the Conservation Commission and the board of the Cultural Alliance of Medfield.  Kirsten lives with her husband and youngest daughter and many assorted animals on their farm.

Parillo is a Massachusetts native who lives in Medfield with his wife and two children. He is the assistant vice president of communications at Brandeis University’s Institutional Advancement division. He is responsible for directing an integrated and strategic communications effort to support fundraising and constituent engagement initiatives. He has coached soccer for Medfield youth and has taught sailing at a public sailing center. He also serves as an advisor to Footnote, a MassChallenge online media company that brings academic research and expertise to a broader audience.Get the Inside Massachusetts Politics newsletter in your inbox.

Bates resides in Medfield with her husband and two children in the Wheelock School and Medfield Children’s Center. She is the chief operating officer at Shorelight, a Boston-based global education company partnering with top-ranked, nonprofit North American universities to build innovative programs and services that help talented students thrive and become global citizens. She serves on the Parent Board of the Medfield Children’s Center, volunteers for her alma mater Wheaton College (Norton) and as a mentor for Lead5050 focused on increasing opportunity for women in international education.

The Medfield Foundation (MFi) is pleased to announce Mike & Connie Lueders and Lueders Companies as Civic Founders of the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund.

Mike and Connie Lueders believe in and support the Medfield community and the mission of the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund.
