Subject: February Storm Declaration
To: Medfield Fire Chief and EMD Bill Deking
Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency
Good afternoon,
The Commonwealth has been notified that FEMA has denied Massachusetts’ request for a Major Disaster Declaration for the February blizzard. Several other states that requested Public Assistance related to this event were also denied.
The Healey-Driscoll Administration is reviewing the decision and intends to submit an appeal. We thank you again for the time and effort you have dedicated to the damage assessment process and will share additional information as the appeal process moves forward. As a reminder, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) approved Governor Healey’s request for federal assistance to support businesses and private nonprofit organizations that experienced economic loss as a result of the blizzard. More information about that support here: https://www.mass.gov/news/governor-healey-secures-federal-assistance-for-businesses-impacted-by-february-blizzard
