LASTCALL – July 10 Deadline to Submit to Participate in the 375th Parade

From Marion and Tracey – “If you would like to participate in the parade, completed participation packets must be submitted by Friday, July 10.”

Medfield 375th Anniversary

We’ve heard some questions about participation in Medfield’s 375th Anniversary Parade, and we’d like to take a moment to clarify how participation works.

This is not a typical annual town parade, holiday parade, or Memorial Day parade. Medfield’s 375th Anniversary Parade is a once-in-a-generation celebration being planned on a significantly larger scale, with a wide variety of participants—from local families and community organizations to antique vehicles, commercial entries, professional performers, bands, and more.

Because of the magnitude and complexity of the event, the committee knew from the beginning that clear guidelines would be necessary to help ensure consistency, fairness, safety, and organization throughout the planning process.

First and foremost, there is not a $5,000 fee to participate in the parade.

Families, community groups, Scouts, school groups, veterans, local organizations, historical entries, floats, antique vehicles, and many others are welcome to participate in the parade without a $5,000 sponsorship requirement.

The $5,000 sponsorship requirement applies specifically to businesses wishing to enter an active commercial vehicle from their company fleet as a promotional business entry in the parade. This includes branded dump trucks, excavators, semis, service vehicles, as well as pickup trucks and other vehicles that are regularly used as part of the business’s day-to-day operations, including vehicles used to tow equipment or work trailers.

This sponsorship structure was established early in the planning process and has been applied consistently to businesses seeking promotional participation through active commercial vehicles. Businesses have already committed to sponsorship at this level and will be participating in the parade with their commercial vehicles.

Antique and historic vehicles are considered differently and are welcome as parade entries. Ownership of a business does not, by itself, turn an antique or historic vehicle into a commercial entry.

We would also like to clarify questions regarding insurance requirements. If a local organization already carries liability insurance as part of its normal operations, it may be asked to provide a certificate of insurance for the day of the parade. However, local community groups and organizations that do not ordinarily carry liability insurance are not required to purchase a special policy simply to participate in the parade, provided the appropriate participation waiver is signed.

Professional performers, entertainment companies, and other contracted groups that are being paid to participate are required to provide the appropriate liability insurance documentation.

Please note that all motor vehicles participating in the parade must be properly insured, including antique and historic vehicles.

Medfield’s 375th Anniversary Parade is being created as a celebration of our town—its history, its people, its organizations, and the generations of families who have helped make Medfield what it is today. We are incredibly proud of the variety of participants who will be joining us on October 17, and we are working hard to create an unforgettable celebration for the entire community.

If you would like to participate in the parade, completed participation packets must be submitted by Friday, July 10. After July 10, we will not be able to accept any additional parade participants. If you have questions about your particular entry or aren’t sure which requirements apply, please reach out to us directly as soon as possible. We are always happy to answer questions and help guide you through the process.

We can’t wait to celebrate 375 years of Medfield together. 🤎
