Medfield Police Department, Law Enforcement Partners Bring Emergency Incident to
Peaceful Resolution
On Monday, November 2, 2026 at approximately 6: 15 p.m. the Medfield Police Department,
with assistance from regional law enforcement partners, successfully brought an incident
involving an individual experiencing a mental health crisis to a peaceful conclusion.
Medfield Police officers responded to the area of Spring Street after receiving a report of an
individual in crisis who was believed to possibly have access to a firearm.
Given the circumstances and potential safety concerns, officers secured the surrounding area and
requested additional resources from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (METRO-LEC)
SWAT team, including personnel trained in crisis negotiation.
Throughout the response, officers and assisting agencies worked together to assess the
circumstances, maintain a safe environment, and bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.
The individual remained inside his residence throughout the incident before exiting at the
direction of responding officers. He was safely taken into custody without resistance or injury
and subsequently transported to a local hospital for evaluation and appropriate mental health
services.
No criminal charges are being pursued in connection with the incident.
Deputy Police Chief McGrath expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the responding personnel
and the cooperation among agencies.
