Meteorologist David Epstein to speak in Medfield on October 22

MEDFIELD, MA — Sustainable Medfield will welcome WGBH meteorologist and Boston Globe weather columnist David Epstein to Medfield High School on Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. for Weathering Change: Small Steps, Real Connection, a Livable Planet.

Epstein has spent his career watching the sky, tracking storms, and paying close attention to what’s changing. In this presentation, he steps back from the forecast to explore something bigger: how we see ourselves in relation to the natural world and the impact of our daily actions.

Climate change is part of the conversation, but so is something more hopeful. Epstein makes the case that we are not separate from nature, we are part of it, and that the small choices we make each day matter: planting native species, appreciating our yards and Medfield’s open spaces, and living lighter on the earth. Not because any one of them solves the problem, but because they change how we live inside it.

Expect science, humor, some hard truths, and a genuinely optimistic path forward.

The program will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Medfield High School Auditorium, 88R South Street, Medfield. Residents of Medfield and surrounding communities are invited to attend.

David Epstein is the Morning Edition meteorologist for WGBH and a weather columnist for the Boston Globe. He graduated from Colby College and studied meteorology at Lyndon State College. He also holds a master’s degree in education and an MBA from Boston College.

The evening is presented by Sustainable Medfield with funding from the Medfield Foundation’s Legacy Fund, which gives grants to community nonprofit causes, supporting Medfield today and over the long term.
