Selectman Office Hours this Friday
I hold regular monthly office hours at The Center on the first Friday of every month from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Residents are welcome to stop by to talk in person about any town matters. Residents can also have coffee and see the Council on Aging in action (a vibrant organization with lots going on). I can be reached via 508-359-9190 or this blog about Medfield matters

From Carol Lisbon, Chair Dover Planning Board – below is an email to Carol Lisbon with a copy of the wetlands delineation for the proposed Pulte proposal –
As requested, please find attached the ANRAD Application for the Pulte Junction Street property for posting on the project’s webpage and the public hearing on it will be opened at the Commission’s Sept. 13th Meeting. As shown on the submitted delineation site plan, the wetlands on the property are substantially greater than those depicted on the State’s MassMapper GIS.
BELOW IS MY HAND EDITTED VERSION OF THE WETLANDS MAP IN THE ABOVE PDF:
This is my drawing on the wetlands plan from the attached PDF so as to better see the wetlands line (blue) and the 100′ buffer (red). I also yellow highlighted the words “wetlands” where I saw them. NB, I was working on a letter sized version of the plan, so all type was so small as to be hard to read.
Fentanyl is the leading cause of opioid overdoses, and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) estimates that six of ten fake prescription pills contain a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl. These fake pills can be bought over the internet and through popular social media apps such as SnapChat. Fortunately, there is a lifesaving reversal agent to counteract the effects of an opioid overdose. This drug is called naloxone, also known under the brand name Narcan.
A study by Brigham and Women’s Hospital showed that 93% of people who receive naloxone will survive their overdose. Naloxone is available without a prescription, and it can be accessed at most pharmacies in Massachusetts. The more people that have access to naloxone, the more lives that are likely to be saved.
It can be difficult to predict when, where, or to whom an overdose might occur. Similar to carrying an EpiPen for someone with allergies, carrying naloxone is a simple practice that can have life-saving implications.
In partnership with the SAFE Coalition, the Medfield Cares About Prevention Coalition (MCAP) is hosting free drop-in nasal spray Narcan (naloxone) training sessions for all Medfield residents and local businesses on Tuesday, September 26th. Members of the SAFE Coalition will lead the training and supply free nasal spray Narcan to all attendees. Training sessions will be offered at 4:30, 5:00 and 5:30 PM at the Medfield Public Library (468 Main St, Medfield, MA 02052).

This podcast by The Daily (NYT) made me understand how one can so easily die in a fire. It is a harrowing description of one man’s experiences in fleeing and escaping the fire. I recommend it to you as a compelling account.

Our state aid did not change in the final budget the Governor signed today.
View this email in your browserBreaking News from the MMA Gov. Healey signs FY24 state budget Gov. Maura Healey today signed a $56 billion state budget bill for fiscal 2024 that increases unrestricted local aid by 3.2% over fiscal 2023 and boosts Chapter 70 education aid by $603 million.
The budget was enacted by the Legislature on July 31. The governor vetoed $205 million in net spending and signed 103 of the bill’s 112 outside sections.
Yesterday an anonymous resident left the following note and dozens and dozens and dozens of fresh donuts from Donut Express at the
Town House,
Public Safety Building, and
DPW Garage
as a thank you to the town employees.
We can never say thank you often enough to those we deal with in this world, so thank you to the kind resident for recognizing all town employees in such a generous and thoughtful manner!
I started this blog to share the interesting and useful information that I saw while doing my job as a Medfield select board member. I thought that my fellow Medfield residents would also find that information interesting and useful as well. This blog is my effort to assist in creating a system to push the information out from the Town House to residents. Let me know if you have any thoughts on how it can be done better.
