other sponsors. There will be tournament Tshirts for sale at the event.

What is Disc Golf?
Played much like traditional golf, Disc Golf involves throwing a Frisbee disc instead of a ball and clubs.  The goal is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws. Players start from a tee area and throw their Frisbee disc to a “hole” (an elevated metal basket). Players try to navigate the 9 hole course in the fewest amount of throws as possible while enjoying the challenge of negotiating the environment they are surrounded by.

Players will register in teams of up to 4 members. Tee times on the course will be assigned and the schedule emailed to participants, with time preference priority given to preregistrants.

Parking is easy and free.

I learned about this great organization and website, TisBest.org,  at the Medfield Foundation meeting last night.  Only thing that could make it better is if it had a hyperlocal Medfield list of charities.

At the reception on Sunday, March 10 at The Center, the 2013 Medfield Foundation volunteers of the year were recognized for their extraordinary volunteer service.

All those nominated for recognition and those people that suggested them for recognition spoke about the volunteer work they are doing.  Kathy Simon commented that “we were so impressed with all the volunteers. It was uplifting to see what an amazing group
of people we have in Medfield. Makes me proud to live here!”  Patti Garofalo remarked that “it’s quite a special event for everyone who attends.  We all leave there feeling happier and very proud of our town for cultivating such terrific, kind people/volunteers.”

Congressman Joseph Kennedy honored the four volunteers of the year with flags flown over the Capital in their honor, and Representatives Garlick and Winslow and Senator Timilty joined together to provide them proclamations from the legislature.  Selectman Mark Fisher also presented them honors for the town.

The Medfield Foundation raises private monies for public purpose in Medfield, $1.4 m. to date, and has also been specially recognizing individual volunteers since 2008.

Tomorrow is last day to nominate a volunteer

Friday, January 25 is the last day to nominate an extraordinary Medfield volunteer for special recognition for their volunteer efforts as the Medfield Foundation volunteer of the year – adult, youth, or lifetime achievement.  The form to make the nomination is at the Medfield Foundation’s website.

If the person was already nominated once before, you can just ask for that former nomination to be re-submitted this year – nothing easier.

Join the fun, by submitting a nomination, and then at the 4PM reception on 3/10/13 at The Center tell your Medfield neighbors and the whole world (Medfield.TV puts their video of the reception on-line) about your favorite Medfield nominee.

The reception is sponsored through the generosity of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation.
