MFD blood drive 2-7 on 9/30 at Legion

From Medfield Fire Department’s Bill DeKing –

Pete, I don’t know if you remember from last year but the Fire Department is hosting another blood drive this year. This will be our 9th year doing the drive. Can you please send a message out on your blog to try to get some people to donate? The blood drive is something that is near and dear to me because 8 years ago when my daughter was born my wife had a life threatening infection that caused her to bleed uncontrollably and she needed more blood than the hospital had on hand, they contacted the Red Cross in the middle of the night and they were there with the blood she needed. She required 29 units that night to save her life. Since then, with the OK of Chief Kingsbury, I have hosted a blood drive each September to help do my part for people who may need help. With the help of Medfield residents I am guessing we have raised close to 500 units over the years.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE: Sponsored by the Medfield Fire Department on Monday, September 30th from
2 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Medfield American Legion, 110 Peter Kristof Way.  All presenting donors entered to win gift certificates from Go Fresh, Medfield. To schedule an appointment please call 1-800- RED-CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org. For more information contact Bill DeKing at (508) 359-4411.

No appointment is needed and you only need to be 17 years old to donate.

Thank You
Bill DeKing
