Utility Poles in Medfield are all Verizon Controlled

I just asked NSTAR to fix a double pole that takes away from the new anvil memorial for former blacksmith Robert McCarthy that is to be unveiled at 12:30 on Medfield Day on Jane’s Avenue, and I learned that Verizon controls all Medfield poles.  The utilities must have divided  up the towns – who knew.

  1. Maybe the Town of Medfield can work some kind of deal with Verizon where anywhere they put in FiOS, where utility poles exist, they agree to work to get all users of those poles to “bury” their cables when FiOS is running fiber….although that may be over for a while….

  2. The Board of Selectmen looked at burying the utility lines in the downtown when I first became a selectman, so 11 years ago – the terms were good, as they just added the cost onto everyone in town’s bills over time, but the price was high.
